YOUR INITIAL VISIT

The first visit will include an extensive medical history, physical examination and laboratory tests. We will ask you to supply other medical records including x-rays, lab studies and previous allergy testing along with the allergy question at least one week prior to your appointment. We will use the "Allergy Questionnaire" and other information obtained in the office to determine whether allergy testing and other laboratory studies are indicated. This visit may last 2-3 hours. The initial allergy skin testing is usually performed during this appointment. Patients under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for all appointments. Our staff will educate you intensively on the treatment and prevention of your allergy symptoms. The second appointment may include further skin testing, if necessary and a summary conference with Dr. Shampain to review all test results. Because of the length of these first two visits, we recommend that you arrange for the care of any young children not being evaluated.
